The Poonhil Trek is a popular and enchanting trekking route located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The starting point of the Poonhill trek is usually Nayapul or Birethanti, which is accessible by road from Pokhara. From Nayapul, trekkers make their way through beautiful rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages, including Birethanti , Hile, Tikhedhunga ,Ulleri , Banthati, Nangethati and Ghorepani. The trail is well-established and offers a mix of ascents and descents, making it suitable for trekkers of various fitness levels. The highlight of the Poonhill Trek is the sunrise view from Poonhill itself. Early in the morning, trekkers climb to the viewpoint to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. The panoramic vista includes peaks like Annapurna I,II,III, IV, Barahi Chuli, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Nilgiri, Tukuche Peak and Dhaulagiri and Manaslu ranges, among others. It’s a truly awe-inspiring sight and a photographer’s dream. After this beautiful view, back to Ghorepani and the trek will continue other side Deurali Pass, Banthati and Tadapani. The trail winds through enchanting rhododendron forests, especially vibrant during the spring season. The blooming rhododendron flowers in various hues of red, pink, and white create a colorful and picturesque setting. Annapurna South, Himchuli Annapurna III and Machhapuchhre always on the background of you during the hike. Finally, the trek takes you to the charming village of Ghandruk, known for its traditional Gurung culture and warm hospitality. Explore the narrow stone-paved alleys, visit the local museum, and interact with the friendly locals. Experience the rich Gurung traditions, taste the local cuisine, and witness traditional dance performances. From Ghandruk, trek down to Syauli Bazar and drive back to Pokhara.
